If a specification remains open at first, this allows for a lot of freedom in the course of a project. This is what developers appreciate in the first instance. However, if the specification is not fixed or it is only created step by step, this can lead to problems. Even small changes have a big impact on further steps but also on the final product.
Specifications should not be left open for too long. From the outset, efforts have to be made to define them as quickly as possible. It is important that the team quickly notices an incomplete specification and takes remedial action. The same applies if a specification is softened and changes are made. Then a change request has to be defined or, in the case of major discrepancies, a completely new project has to be outlined.
