COMPANY (Design Factor 21/24)

Resources, Profile, Experience, Partnerships

A classic business includes research & development, manufacture and sales. Today there are many companies that only have partial aspects but who still need to start and own development projects. In the 90s many companies were downright emaciated down to their core competencies with production and development being outsourced to create a more efficient business model.

For this very reason, it must be clear from the beginning who will take these necessary functions and responsibilities throughout. Does the company have sufficient resources, competence and capacity? For most companies with missing competence and capacity this is not sufficiently clear and therefore this analysis is so important. It is important to know where the strengths of the company lie and where this needs to be supplemented through external resources.

Just because nowadays only a few companies are "complete", people often forget the reverse: what resources the company already has should be utilised? And what existing partnerships the company has can be used to help?

Is the company experienced? Or is this the first foray into a development project? The answer to this question significantly changes the starting position from which the project should be approached. Honesty about real capability and a clear understanding of one’s own limitations is key here.
