Reuniting
For Chinese, holiday time is for reuniting with family and reconnecting old relationships. The biggest holiday in China is Spring Festival where migrants living in big cities go back to visit family in their smaller hometowns.
All Alone…
People leaving home to find work in the big cities are faced with increasing costs to visit their hometowns. In the future we will see many people simply unable to afford the costs or unwilling to travel during the chaos.
When Can We Have a Holiday
In China the New Year holiday time is different every year and chosen by the government. Workers have to make up for anytime off during the holiday by usually working the following weekend.
Interesting Fact
Some Chinese believe you should not be washing your hair on the 1st day of the Chinese New Year as you would be washing away your good luck for the year.
