What a Design Retainer is?

By Miriam, 16. January 2013

Since this is the beginning of the year, we would like to remind you what is a Design Retainer.

The situation for many business leaders today is that there is too little time and too many tasks. One of these tasks in any market is building and maintaining your brand.

We all know it has to be done, but where should I start and where do I allocate my budget? A new company PPT, an update of old website, or finally doing something about the product brochures?

To solve your problem WILDDESIGN is offering the option to work under a design retainer. A retainer benefits both the designer and client. For a designer, a retainer is a clear net, with a set guidance of the client brand’s standards. For the client, a retainer guarantees that a designer will provide a certain amount of work, and potentially prioritize that work. For a monthly fee, based on an estimated workload and time schedule, we allocate our designers to continuously work on upcoming needs.

The process:
1) Define and prioritize what needs to be done
2) Add in specific deadlines

3) Execute
4) Update the task list and implement it

The goal for many of our clients is to reduce the head count and outsource all of their design/marketing needs to one supplier. For others, retainers serve as a period of time that WILDDESIGN acts as their general art director to train and instruct an in-house team to be self-sufficient.

Some of our client that currently enjoys our retainer service is Demag Plastics Group, a leading injection molding machine manufacturer and a British shoe brand Clarks.
